A Seedrun is a page for an idea that isn't built yet.

People who would use it sign up. Every confirmed signup adds time to the clock. If enough people join before it runs out, the founder builds it. If not, the page says so.

How the clock moves

6 h5 minLaunchSet length
  • Only confirmed emails add time.
  • A signup through a friend's link adds a quarter more. A pledge or deposit adds three times as much.
  • The clock can stretch to twice the run's length and no further, so every run ends.

How a run works

  1. A founder puts up an idea. It is a real product idea that does not exist yet. The page says "Not built yet" at the top, and the founder cannot remove it.

  2. People who want it raise a hand. You leave your email and confirm it. Your signup counts toward the goal and adds time to the clock. Share your link and your friends add time too.

  3. The clock runs out, and the page tells you. At or over the goal, the founder builds it. Under the goal, the page says it missed. Either way the result stays up for everyone to see.

Questions people ask

What is a Seedrun?

A Seedrun is a page for an idea that is not built yet. A founder made it in Seedrun, a card game about startup ideas, to find out whether real people want the thing before spending months building it. The page stays up while a clock runs. If enough people sign up before it runs out, the founder builds it.

What is the difference between a pledge and a deposit?

Some founders ask for money to see whether people will pay. A pledge saves your card and charges it only if the run reaches its goal before the clock runs out; if it misses, nothing is charged. A deposit is charged right away and refunded automatically if the run misses its goal. Every paid run shows its price, its refund policy and a delivery date next to the form. Many runs are free: you reserve a spot and pay nothing.

Are the numbers real?

Yes. The count only includes people who confirmed their email or completed a pledge or deposit. A founder has no way to add or fake signups.
